Who you are

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or relevant field; a Master’s degree is appreciated
Proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
Proven experience as a data scientist or application developer
Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles
Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
A team-player with excellent communication skills

Desirable

Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks, NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and dataset construction for machine learning tasks
Experience with scientific computing is a plus

What the job involves

Understand client requirements and translate them into application features
Collaborate with domain experts to set specifications for existing and new applications
Design creative prototypes and analytical models according to specifications
Write high-quality code to program complete applications within deadlines
Develop algorithms for data processing, statistical analysis, and machine learning
Perform unit and integration testing before delivery
Conduct functional and non-functional testing of data-driven applications
Troubleshoot and debug applications
Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update, and add new features
Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design, code, and data processes
Utilise Jupyter Notebooks, NumPy, TensorFlow, and PyTorch for scientific data analysis and building machine learning models
Build and pre-process datasets for various data science tasks

Our take

Unexploded ordnance is the name given to explosive devices that have not yet detonated, but still pose a risk of exploding. The safe removal and disposal of such devices is vital for public safety and land development. Brimstone supplies a range of unexploded ordnance (UXO) services designed to identify and mitigate UXO-associated risks. This includes site surveying and risk assessment, as well as clearing and disposal options.

Where the company stands out is in its application of drone technology. It deploys its own modified off-the-shelf UAVs to survey and detect for unexploded ordnance in typically tough-to-access environments. The drones are fitted with a range of technologies that capture precise 3D models of the land and identify risks that may otherwise be missed.

In addition to this, Brimstone has worked to bolster its capabilities by integrating artificial intelligence into its services. Upon launch, its MOSAIC platform will enable real-time analysis of raw data, significantly speeding up UXO surveying for its clients. This is an exciting addition to its capabilities, and should further differentiate it from competitors.
