Role
Who you are
- Senior-Level Experience: Demonstrable track record of designing, building, and deploying complex, commercial-grade software applications in a senior or lead engineering role.
- Full-Stack Agility: The ability and willingness to work effectively across the entire technology stack, from the database to the user interface.
- Stakeholder Guidance: You must be able to guide product decisions by providing clear, actionable engineering insight to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Collaborator: Able to operator effectively in a lean, high paced team with a mix of technical and subject matter experts.
Desirable
- Experience with Python or a keen interest to learn, as it is frequently used in the AI/ML domain
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform
- Proficient and effective use of assistive coding platforms eg Claude Code, Codex
What the job involves
- End-to-End Feature Development: Take ownership of new features from conception and architectural design through to deployment and maintenance, working across our React front-end and NestJS back-end.
- Shape the Product Roadmap: Work directly with the product team, founders, and clients to understand user needs, develop new features, and contribute your technical perspective to strategic roadmap decisions.
- Scale our Azure Infrastructure: Help us build upon and scale our cloud-native architecture and Azure services.
- Engage Directly with Clients: Participate in client onboarding and feedback sessions, gaining first-hand insights into how our product is used and gathering intelligence to drive continuous improvement
- Drive Technical & Security Standards: Act as a custodian for our secure-by-design principles and ensuring our platform aligns with our ISO 27001 framework

Our take
Legal work is full of time-consuming, repetitive tasks that risk legal teams spending more time digging through data than making decisions. It's a lengthy and expensive process, and for many companies, it's becoming a real problem as legal complexities increase.
New startup Ctrl AI is stepping in to make things easier. It's building smart AI tools specifically for in-house legal teams, not law firms. It's tech focuses on automating the brainy (and boring) parts of legal work, so legal departments can move faster and focus on what really matters.
It's getting some serious backing too, with international law firm Mishcon de Reya investing in the company. As the use of AI grows in legal departments, Ctrl AI is in a prime position to become a key player in transforming how corporate legal teams work.
