The company launched its peer-to-peer insurance model in 2010, making it the first provider of its kind. Two years later, the company expanded into the lucrative B2B market, creating digital solutions for some of the biggest names in banking and insurance, including Deutsche Bank and Allianz.
Friendsurance's main challenge has been competing with new insurtech disruptors, especially fellow peer-to-peer companies such as Lemonade. Nonetheless, Friendsurance's head start allowed it to carve out a solid market position that has seen it build up both avenues of its business and present new solutions through its digital bancassurance platform.
