Companies are facing increasing competition to attract job seekers and therefore need new ways to make interviewing processes more accessible. Hirevue does exactly this, working with companies to conduct video interviews - live or recorded - that are scheduled around a candidate’s availability.
In order to do so, the company has deployed the use of artificial intelligence, which assesses and scores a candidate based on skills like problem-solving and communication. This not only doubles the number of interviews and hires that a company can make (in less than half the time) but improves candidate quality. For this reason, companies like Amazon and Unilever deploy its services to scale and accelerate their hiring processes, a great reflection of the quality of Hirevue's offering.
The company has met criticism, however, with some claiming its analysis of factors like facial movements, word choice or speaking voice is simply a blend of superficial measurements and arbitrary number-crunching that could be seen as unfair discrimination. Despite this, Hirevue does seem to have found an interesting angle into the fruitful hiring industry and will look to expand its position over the coming years.

(CTO)Alberto is the author of "Building and Managing High-Performance Distributed Teams". Previously, he served as the Head of Engineering at LawnStarter and as a Senior Director/Head of Engineering at Schoology.

She then moved into the role of VP of People & Engagement, Senior VP of People in 2024 and CPO later that same year. She also spent over 5 years at Michael Best & Friedrich in HR roles, and nearly 7 years at Deloitte as a Resource Management Consultant, Talent Specialist, and Talent Business Advisor.
