Our take

Vacasa is one of the largest companies operating within the short-term rental industry in the US. It provides an end-to-end property management service to its global portfolio of over 35,000 properties.

Founded in 2009, Vacasa hit Unicorn status ten years later, and started trading publicly through a SPAC merger in 2021. Part of this success is due to the company's efficient automated listing and pricing system, plus the buy-ups of popular destination communities. This departed from the historically fragmented vacation rentals market, and allows Vacasa to offer incredibly competitive prices in hundreds of destinations.

Moving forwards, the company is planning on investing in its supply in both existing markets and new markets. With three-quarters of rental homes being outside of the US, Vacas has started expanding internationally into Mexico, Canada, Belize, and Costa Rica, indicating a gradual move towards South American markets.
