WorldRemit launched in 2010 to fix a big problem: millions of people around the world were wasting time and money to support their loved ones back home.
The value of remittances globally continues to rise. The sector was traditionally dominated by a few big incumbents, but has recently faced much digital disruption including WorldRemit as well as TransferWise and Azimo.
WorldRemit is the company that is most responsible for driving the industry’s evolution from an offline, 95% cash-based sector to a safer and increasingly cashless industry.
While the company now styes itself as a more general money-transfer business, WorldRemit will continue to focus on its mission.
