Catapult have brought a fresh approach to the gig economy. Their workers are employed by Catapult with holiday pay, minimum wage and pay-as-you-earn taxed payroll.
This means workers are fully vetted before being offered to employers who need temporary workers, and gives the workers more protection while still retaining flexible hours.
Labour is a big source of cost for most businesses, and Catapult gives companies the ability to switch their labour to a variable cost instead of a fixed cost.
Catapult are well placed to capitalise on the trend of flexible working on both sides of the market, the challenge (as it often is with marketplace businesses), will be balancing both sides of the market.
