Role
Who you are
- Has a Bachelor's or Master's degree in HR or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in a Head of People or HR Business Partner role
- Has a background in fast-growing scale-up environments and understands the challenges and pace of scaling operations across multiple locations
- Is proficient in English (Dutch is a plus) and has knowledge of Dutch labor law
- Is comfortable with HR software and embraces new tools to streamline processes, particularly in a distributed team environment
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced, changing environment where structures and procedures evolve, and is excited by the challenges of scaling a start-up globally
- Is precise, proactive, and service-minded, always striving for excellence and employee satisfaction, no matter where the team is located
- Is passionate about fostering a diverse and collaborative environment, where impact, growth, and learning drive success
- Is a strategic thinker but also not afraid to get their hands dirty and be involved in the execution of people processes and operations across multiple locations
What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced Head of People to support our growth, strengthen our culture, and optimise our people processes. In this strategic, yet hands-on role, you will lead the professionalisation of our internal organisation and manage all aspects of international People, Operations, and Office activities
- We are a dynamic team of 80 employees spread across our Amsterdam HQ, our MEA office in Cairo, and our Sales and Customer Success teams in the US and UK.
- As we scale from a start-up to a global scale-up, this role will be central to driving our international growth and ensure that our people processes evolve to meet the demands of a rapidly expanding organisation

- We are looking for someone who can be a strategic business partner to our leadership team, offering insights and guidance on people-related matters, while also being someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in execution and operations to ensure smooth day-to-day people processes
- Culture and Organizational Growth:
- Transform our strong company culture into scalable practices that foster engagement, performance, and collaboration across our international offices, ensuring we stay true to our values of impact, growth, and diversity while adapting for scale
- People Processes:
- Take ownership of all people-related processes, ensuring they align with our mission and business goals, and provide a consistent employee experience across all regions as we grow from a start-up to a global scale-up
- Strategic Advisor:
- Serve as a trusted sounding board for the Management Team, offering objective advice and diving into special projects as needed to align the organization’s people strategy with business goals
- HR Operations:
- Manage day-to-day administrative tasks and ensure smooth execution of HR operations across multiple locations
- Onboarding & Offboarding:
- Define and implement structured HR processes for onboarding and offboarding employees in all regions, ensuring a positive experience for all staff members, regardless of location
- Performance Management:
- Lead the design and implementation of performance review processes that support continuous growth and development across diverse teams and locations
- Talent Development:
- Develop and execute a Talent Learning & Development strategy that nurtures employee growth and skills, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development across a distributed, international team
- Recruitment & Employer Branding:
- Drive recruitment efforts, ensuring we attract top talent across our regions. Collaborate with Marketing to maintain a strong employer brand that resonates with prospective hires globally and highlights our values of diversity and impact
- Office Management:
- Directly manage the Office Manager and ensure a smooth, supportive office environment for our team in Amsterdam while also offering support to other regions as needed
Our take
Surgery makes up a big chunk of hospital budgets, and has a massive role in clinical outcomes for patients. Despite this, surgery tends to differ considerably between hospitals. Differences in factors like technique, post-surgery care and even operating room efficiency have led to a low level of standardisation, and as a result, surgery across the globe is failing to be optimised to its full potential.
Incision has set out to fix this. By building a knowledge platform based around surgery, it is improving surgical practices worldwide by allowing practitioners to share experiences, skills and expertise. As well as this, Incision offers new educational products and services ranging from 3D anatomy models to AI-driven video analysis of surgical performance. Going forward, this diversity of output will be a big advantage for Incision.
With an estimated 1.2 million practicing surgeons worldwide, Incision's potential market is big and getting bigger. Its international strategy - based on building presence in a number of key markets - has been bolstered by funding, and Incision remains focused on expansion into the UK, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and Belgium. The company's goal is to impact 100 million procedures each year by 2030.
