Who you are
- As the first line of communication with Flutterwave’s prospects, the ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the sales process and will excel at researching and qualifying leads, starting new relationships and showcasing Flutterwave’s offerings to prospects in a persuasive way
- We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a proven track record of success in sales. If you are self-motivated and have a passion for sales, we would love to hear from you
- 4+ years of experience as a sales development representative, with a track record of exceeding lead targets and sales quota
- Proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with potential customers
- Knowledge of sales techniques and strategies
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation skills and analytical skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A desire to learn and grow within the sales organization
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales or a related field
What the job involves
- Flutterwave is looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our Enterprise Sales team. As a SDR you will be responsible for identifying potential customers, generating new business opportunities, and managing leads through the sales pipeline and setting up our sales closers for success
- Generate leads to manage and maintain a pipeline of interested prospects to create new business opportunities for Flutterwave
- Build nurturing relationships with customers to identify their potential needs and qualify their interests and viability to drive sales
- Move solid leads through the funnel, connecting them to a salesperson, and arranging in-person meetings, emails, or phone calls
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop strategies for reaching sales targets
- Developing sales strategies to draw in potential buyers or to solicit new potential customers
- Following up with potential customers who expressed interest but did not purchase our services
- Identify best practices to refine Flutterwave’s lead-generation playbook
- Stay up-to-date on market trends, competition, and industry developments
- Attend networking events and tradeshows to build relationships and generate leads
- Manage a small portfolio of existing Flutterwave Enterprise clients to support administrative functions, FX trading and also identify cross selling opportunities
- Ensure personal information of customers, employees, and other individuals the company conducts business with is processed and protected in line with applicable data privacy policies, privacy laws, and global best practices

As a continent, Africa has a fragmented payment system. Countries have their own payment systems, that do not interoperate, so users struggle to make and receive payments across international borders. Flutterwave has built infrastructure to connect all payment types in the continent, bringing a single-use solution to any merchant so they can accept payments from customers anywhere.
Back during the pandemic, when lockdowns hit brick-and-mortar businesses in Africa, Flutterwave was able to quickly set up digital storefronts for 20,000 users, in a free promotion they called “keeping the lights on”. Overall in 2020, the company processed more than 80 million transactions (worth over $7 billion) across 17 African countries.
In 2021, Flutterwave collaborated with PayPal, allowing African merchants to accept payments across the continent from PayPal users. In 2023, it launched its Engineering Mobility Program to nurture the next generation of Indian tech workers, indicating its widening market scope. And the continuation of its success is clear by its promotion of 25% of its workforce in 2026.
