Who you are
- This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in enterprise software sales, particularly in the data or SaaS space
- The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership skills, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to build lasting relationships with key stakeholders
- 10+ years of enterprise software sales experience, with at least 5 years in a sales leadership role. Experience in the data engineering, analytics, or SaaS space is a must
- Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding revenue targets and leading large, geographically dispersed sales teams
- Proven ability to inspire and lead teams, foster collaboration, and drive results in a fast-paced environment
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to balance long-term vision with day-to-day operational priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong focus on understanding and addressing customer needs
- Proficiency in sales forecasting (using tools like Clari), CRM tools (such as Salesforce), and data-driven decision-making
What the job involves
- We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales, North America to lead and grow our software sales efforts in North America
- This person will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, leading a high-performing sales team, and expanding our customer base
- Sales Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing sales team across North America, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue goals, expand market share, and meet business objectives
- Revenue Growth: Drive consistent pipeline growth through effective team management, forecasting, and execution of go-to-market strategies
- Customer Engagement: Cultivate relationships with key enterprise customers, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling
- Team Development: Recruit, onboard, and retain top sales talent while promoting professional development and career growth within the team
- Coaching & Development: Proven ability to inspire and lead teams, foster collaboration, and drive results in a fast-paced environment
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior sales leadership, enablement, marketing, customer success, and product teams to align sales strategies with overall company goals
Our take
Some reports suggest that data engineers can spend as little as 20% of their time actually analysing data - the rest is spent on administrative tasks like data cleaning and organization. It’s an issue that legacy data management systems are struggling to help enterprises stay on top of, according to Prophecy.
Prophecy has developed a data engineering platform that offers a low-code environment that runs in parallel to the code editor, meaning both analysts and engineers can easily toggle back and forth and collaborate on projects. The company also offers a compiler to help companies move their data pipelines onto the cloud.
This means that Prophesy’s offering straddles two rapidly accelerating trends that could see the company win big business. Firstly, the increasing number of companies looking to migrate to the cloud without the astronomical costs and risks that doing this independently can bring; and secondly, the rise of low/no-code driven by the high demand for (and general shortage of) developer talent. It’s helped the company onboard some key enterprise customers already, so with healthy funding under its belt, Prophesy is making confident first steps.
