Our take
Fraction’s lending platform allows homeowners to convert up to half of their home equity into tax-free cash, without the obligation of paying a monthly fee. The interest rate they pay after the contracted period (or the sale of the property) is linked to the value of their home.
The company's product was perceived as controversial seeing as it skimmed off profits from larger, traditional players in the industry. However, Fraction is more concerned with levelling the playing field for everyone and has been rewarded with an upward trajectory since launching in 2018, resulting in some huge financial backing from the likes of Impression Ventures, Primetime Partners, Global Founders Capital, and Panache Ventures.
This has seen the company expand within Canada and launch in the US. Now, increased US expansion and new product launches that add value for homeowners are the next big milestones for the startup.
