Our take
Coinstar began to serve their customers’ key need, making it simple and convenient to transform saved coins into cash to meet their life goals. Since that time, Coinstar has expanded into major grocery retailers in the US in addition to retail locations including Canada, the UK, Germany, Spain, and France. Today, Coinstar recycles more coin currency than the US Mint produces each year.
Coinstar is now building key products and services to be the leading cash on-ramp for a suite of products that serve the cash-preferred consumer, a customer overlooked by large banks and challenging to serve for neobanks with no physical infrastructure of their own. Given the existing distribution network and strong customer need, the company is expected to grow considerably in the next couple of years.
