Who you are

You have 2+ years experience as a software engineer
You have experience with Ruby on Rails
You have experience working with React and are familiar with a variety of JS frameworks
You have experience working in an agile/scrum environment, involving fast product iteration
You are curious and passionate about solving problems and building products that empower millions of users
You are able to communicate effectively and work well with a diverse range of non-technical colleagues
You are detailed orientated in your front-end designs and have worked closely with designers on previous projects
You are open-minded and willing to learn new approaches to your role and our culture

What the job involves

Make big contributions to our new network product. You'll be deploying to production quickly and getting stuck into our scrum process from the very start
Be involved in product design - you'll work closely with our Designer and the broader team throughout the product design process to ensure we deliver great features quickly
Improve and iterate the features you build, based on live feedback and testing with thousands of users at a time
Get to know (and work on) the entire product and infrastructure
Work to improve our infrastructure, tooling and tech stack
Shape our process - good planning and retrospectives is core to how we work as a team
Contribute to our company-wide strategy and culture as we grow

This interview and task will relate to the tasks you might do in the role, and for us to understand your current skills. We'll also give you plenty of time to ask questions, learn more about Organise and what it’s like to work as part of our team
5. If both sides are keen, then we’ll invite you to a final interview that will focus on team culture and how you work best. You'll also have to ask any final questions about the role and working at Organise

The rise of global corporations and the expansion of the gig economy in recent years has put the spotlight on employee rights – particularly as the proportion of UK workers who are members of a trade union continues to decrease. Organise is an early stage startup helping employees in the UK to action changes in their workplace. Through Organise, anyone start their own anonymous campaign and leverage surveys, petitions, crowdfunding and direct outreach to influence the companies they work for and encourage them to change their employment practices.

The company aims to combine the power of collective action, traditionally harnessed by trade unions, with the reach and insight of modern digital campaigns. The platform is seen as complementary to union activities and many of its members are union members too.

To date, Organise has enabled workers to mount successful campaigns against unjust working practices at companies including McDonald’s, Ted Baker, Amazon, Uber and Deliveroo. There are now over a million people in the Organise network – which is currently centred on the UK – although the company is looking to expand to the US, following a successful seed raise.
