Freenow is a multi-mobility app that's working to make getting around cities safer, faster, and more convenient. The platform puts safety first, connecting passengers with thousands of experiences, vetted drives across Europe. The app offers seven different ways to travel in one place, making it easy to choose the best option for any journey - whether that's a quick work commute, an airport run, or even a night out.
Freenow has a strong European footprint and is focused on working with professional taxi drivers rather than just ride-share amateurs. The service operates in over 180 cities across nine countries and has pickups points at 50 airports. Taxis arrive in an average of four minutes, and the whole experience is cashless, letting users travel like locals.
Recently, the company was acquired by Lyft in an impressive cross-marekt usage, the Lyft app was opened 4.6M times in Freenow's marekt since earl 2024, while Freenow was used 1.2M times in Lyft's territory. This merger could double Lyft's addressable market to over 300B trips per year. Freenow CEO Thomas Zimmermann and his team will continues leading operations across their nine countries and for users, this means the platform should get even better as both companies integrate their technologies and strengths to serve customers worldwide.
