Our take

Collective Benefits is an insurance platform for self-employed and independent workers. The gig economy is growing quickly, with more than 25 million gig workers in the EU alone, but they are not entitled to the same essential benefits as their salaried peers; such as sick pay, compassionate leave, and so on.

Collective Benefits is fixing this by bringing self-employed people together, and getting them to take control of their safety net. The company is focused on worker wellbeing, offering insurance products (like sick and injury pay, and family leave), health products (like mental health support and 24/7 GP), and financial savings and rewards. This is particularly valued as the recent cost of living crisis has both stretched budgets and increased the number of gig workers picking up extra hours to make ends meet.

The company operates in the UK and across the EU, but also in Israel and Japan. It's mainly a B2B offering, providing its products and platforms to world-leading on-demand platforms like Just Eat, Wolt, Task Rabbit, and Addison Lee. These companies purchase Collective Benefit's products and services to attract, engage and retain their workers. A recent partnership with Gett extends Collective's services to London's iconic black cab drivers and underscores the popularity and importance of the company's offering.
