Our take

E-learning is not new, but until recently it remained fairly undeveloped as a process. Sponge provides modernised e-learning solutions to businesses in a range of areas such as compliance training, upskilling and training in a wide selection of off-the-shelf and bespoke courses.

Sponge uses programmes that leverage gamified learning. It also focuses on delivering original and interesting content rather than the more bare-bones approach often taken by other e-learning providers. These advantages have helped it build a strong customer base in the UK, including blue-chip businesses like AstraZeneca, GSK, Axa, Tesco and Tetra Pak.

The company has developed its own proprietary platforms for training delivery – including Spark, a Learning Management System, and Ignite, a responsive authoring tool. Sponge, tapping into the growing demand for training for remote workforces, plans further expansion, which will involve additional refinements to its platforms and hiring additional talent to drive the company's growth.
