To completely decarbonize the transportation industry by 2050.
Due to zero emissions and high energy output, ammonia has emerged as a popular alternative fuel choice for transport and energy companies, especially those with long operating hours such as marine trade and transport market. Amogy is emerging as a fresh face within this market, aiming to help decarbonize the transportation industry.
Though a traditional engine has long been dismissed as a vehicle for ammonia-based fuels, Amogy partnered with Swedish PowerCell to develop an engine using ammonia reformed into hydrogen in 2022. This exemplifies the potential of ammonia moving forward in the energy industry. It’s no surprise then that Amogy has received over $200 million to date in funding.
Amogy will use its most recent round of funding to evolve the commercial possibilities of its ammonia-based product, which it plans to bring to market by 2024. There will no doubt be competition with similar plans though, and it is likely to be a race to the top for the potentially highly lucrative market.
