Our take
In the UK, over 50% of waste by volume is produced by construction - not to mention the industry's hefty contribution to CO2 emissions. To make the construction industry more sustainable, it is vital it becomes more circular. Material Index is contributing to this shift.
The company supplies a means for diverting materials from the deconstruction and demolition of buildings back into the supply chain. Its platform serves both ends of this exchange; providing information on material valuation and reuse pathways, as well as assisting with the sourcing of secondary materials for new projects.
This service not only reduces the waste generated by construction, but also supports lower emissions by reducing the need for production of new materials. Its a valuable undertaking, and one that is worth keeping an eye on as the company develops further.
