The freight industry is relied on by almost every industry on a day-to-day basis, yet it faces a huge range of inefficiencies. Trucks often drive without meeting their vehicle's capacity which is not just environmentally unsustainable but also increases the prices shippers must pay whilst reducing the earnings of the carriers.
Convoy provides a digital freight network that leverages technology to tackle inefficiencies within the freight industry, promising to reduce costs for shipping brands, increase earnings for carriers, and reduce the carbon footprint of the industry. The company achieves this through its data-driven approach, collecting over 1,000 data points on every freight load to ensure capacity is optimized and to prevent empty miles.
Various other tech startups are tackling inefficiencies within the freight industry, but these generally specialize in helping either shippers, carriers, or brokers, whereas Convoy aims to help all parties. Furthermore, the company's focus on reducing the carbon emissions of the freight industry allows them to stand out from its competition, saving over 5.5 billion pounds of carbon emissions to date.
