Who you are

You are a tinkerer, who enjoys investigating and solving difficult problems

Have experience with Haskell. You have written Haskell in your free time or professionally. You know about the advanced features of the language and can navigate a large codebase that uses them
Optionally, you have experience with at least one non-Haskell functional programming language (Scala, OCaml, Erlang, Clojure, etc.)
Optionally, you have experience with an imperative programming language (Java, Python, C++)
You are comfortable working on the core (consensus, ledger, APIs, etc.) of a blockchain project: no dapp, no NFT
Have excellent coding skills with a high bar for quality and understandability
Are able to work autonomously and comfortable contributing to defining objectives and milestones,
Nurture a learning mindset, regardless of level or experience, and desire to delve deeper in the face of setbacks,
Have an interest in – and some experience of – open source community contributions
A desire to regularly communicate new learnings
An empathetic, humble, and client-focused ethos
Strong organizational and task management skills
Excellent communication skills, especially written. We are a distributed team so we’re extra mindful about communication

What the job involves

We are looking for a Functional Software Engineer to join our team at Tweag
Work together with client teams on their code-base, which include (but are not limited to) distributed systems, web services, financial systems
Work on improving our many research and community projects
Any combination of the previous two bullets, either simultaneously or in sequence
Participate in public communication via writing blog posts and communicating with colleagues and the Functional programming community
