Our take
With its origins in Helsinki and now with a U.S subsidiary, ICEYE is a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging startup. Its in-house built constellation delivers monitoring capabilities for any location on earth, providing customers with reliable and frequent images of any point on the Earth’s surface.
Despite other players in the game, ICEYE’s unique satellite constellation and technology approach means that its offerings are unmatched, whilst purposely being built smaller, more affordable and more flexible than legacy systems. The breadth of use for various customers provides it with mass-market appeal, including shipping, insurance, maritime monitoring, and natural disaster response.
The company is setting its sights high, raising 1 billion euros in 2026 alone. With this money, ICEYE is set to expand its SAR satellite constellation and its ISR platform, addressing the growing demand for space-based technology and defence in ISR (intelligence, surveillance & reconnaissance) markets. Alongside this, it has made a number of recent partnerships, further bolstering the company as it goes forward.
