Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics, or other business-related/quantitative fields of study
- 7+ years of experience working in Strategic Finance and FP&A or adjacent fields, including 3+ years working in FinTech
- Exceptional quantitative analytical skills
- Advanced knowledge of excel, with expertise in financial modeling
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously
- Experience presenting work product to C-level executives in an organized, thoughtful, and professional manner
- Excitement about working at the intersection of 3 deeply complex industries: healthcare, insurance, and credit
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
What the job involves
- As a Finance Sr. Manager at Gaia, you will own workstreams across all things finance and capital markets, reporting directly to the CFO and collaborating extensively with leadership across the organization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, analyzing, and presenting daily/weekly/monthly operational metric reporting across Gaia’s 3 major verticals: pricing, protection, and credit
- Spearheading all FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and performance analysis to drive data-driven decisions
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to business leaders, providing insights, financial modeling, and recommendations that influence growth, efficiency, and profitability
- Working side-by-side with Product to refine a suite of offerings that both serve our members and contribute strong unit economics
- Oversee financial reporting and operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement of processes and systems
- Owning, updating, and improving the financial forecast model for the business
- Supporting all Capital Markets activities, including structuring, negotiation, execution, and ongoing relationship management for ABL facilities, corporate debt facilities, and equity
Our take
Gaia Fertility was founded in 2020 as a response to founder Nader Alsalim and his wife’s personal difficulty with IVF: it took three clinics in two countries, and £50,000 over four years to conceive. Creating the start-up from a patient experience perspective helps them to solve the challenges of intended parents.
Their approach is to take the guesswork out of trying for a baby. They use a personal predictive technology tool, “Gabi”, which has analysed the data from over one million past IVF treatments over 35 years and can compare it with clients information.
There is some well-reasoned concern for vulnerable parents being sold ‘false hope’ in overseas IVF treatments. However, with only 12% of NHS groups offering the recommended number of IVF cycles, Gaia can offer an alternative, specialised care package.
With substantial funding raised in 2022 from high-profile investors, and a growing focus on fertility health in men and women across society, Gaia is well-positioned to disrupt this market and make a real difference in the lives of intended parents.
