Our take

Graphite is democratising access to code review and developer tooling typically only available to engineers at big tech companies. Where Facebook and Google have Phabricator and Critique respectively, all developers can access Graphite’s open source command line interface and dashboard for streamlining code review.

Graphite dramatically improves engineering team efficiency with unique features. For example, where code reviews are traditionally conducted linearly (code is committed then reviewed), Graphite is concurrent, letting engineers continue with their work, even while that original piece is being reviewed, a process that is much more efficient.

Graphite is now regularly rolling out performance improvements and introducing additional layers of polish. Its ultimate aim is to expand its user base to tens of thousands of engineers.

With top-tier backing and buy-in from thousands of engineers, Graphite will hope that its momentum can carry it through to reach even the most corporate and backward looking engineering teams.
