Our take

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the national governing body for cricket in England and Wales. By running teams, overseeing domestic and recreational cricket, and coordinating participation programmes, the organisation seeks to inspire a generation to say "Cricket is a game for me".

ECB oversees all levels of cricket in England and Wales. This includes the national teams and county cricket; men's, women's and disability teams. Between 2020 and 2024 it prioritised initiatives such as nurturing the local core of the game, making cricket more accessible, engaging youth players and boosting the women's game - all towards creating a more inviting world of cricket in England and Wales.

The organisation continues upon this mission, hoping to improve lives and connect communities. With cricket being one of the most popular sports in the country, this provides a broad reach for ECB to make a difference as it pushes the sport forwards for players (and spectators) from the casual to professional.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at England & Wales Cricket Board

  • The ECB is a Disability Confident Employer, showing our commitment to recruiting and retaining disabled people and people with health conditions for their skills and talent.
  • We are committed to applying our Dignity at Work policy at all stages of recruitment and selection. We always carry out shortlisting, interviewing and selection without regard to an applicant's age, gender/gender reassignment, being married or in a civil partnership, being pregnant or on maternity leave, disability, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin), religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
  • Our aim is to mitigate unconscious bias as much as possible during the hiring processes at the ECB. By removing information that may encourage stereotypes to be formed, we are able to mitigate these biases and allow us to make hiring decisions based on skills. This is done via five key aspects of the recruitment process: - Anonymising applications and in turn anonymising the hiring process. - Grouping applications to eliminate bias - Randomising applications to apply consistency in approach - Reviewing applications for effective, fair, and consistent candidate assessments - Collating applications using an automated and unbiased method
