Role
Who you are
- We are looking for experienced and ambitious Senior or Lead Engineers looking to step into a Staff Engineering role, or Staff Engineers looking for a new challenge
- The person should be comfortable dipping in and out of different problems, juggling priorities and have a ‘Make it Happen’ attitude
- This person should also have Payments, Financial Services or other FinTech related experience
- Proven experience working with payments platforms, transaction processing, or fintech environments
- Strong understanding of API design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
- Experience in backend development using Node.js, including building RESTful APIs and working with databases
- Knows when to utilise emerging low-code platforms like Retool
- Experience with AWS
- Experience with GitHub Actions
- Knowledge of payment processing standards, security, PCI compliance, and risk management
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering scalable, secure, and efficient solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers
What the job involves
- As a Staff Engineer at Equals, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling our payments platform
- You will work across the stack, with a focus on backend services in Node.js and frontend components in React, to deliver high-performance, reliable, and secure payment solutions
- You will sit in our continuous improvement team, dedicated to resolving challenging problems that arise from customer feedback, technical debt, and bugs
- You will be able to work with emerging technologies like Retool to design solutions to internal and external business problems
