Addison Lee, founded in 1975, is London’s largest private hire company today, providing car and courier services for individuals and businesses.
The company’s main competition these days are ride-hailing firms such as Uber, but Addison Lee hopes to stand out with its practiced professional customer service. Though mainly serving London, the company also offers managed services in New York and across the US.
Addison Lee serves a large portion of the FTSE 100, operates thousands of vehicles, and provides up to 30,000 rides a day in London alone. The company also made the jump to a fully electric fleet in 2023, acquiring low-carbon taxi fleet Green Tomato Cars. In 2024, it was itself acquired by ComfortDelGro, a multinational transport group, with plans to expand services into Liverpool, the Wirral, Chester and Aberdeen through integration with CityFleet Network.
More recently, Addison Lee has strengthened its position in the corporate travel market through an expanded partnership with Your Travel Corporate (YTC), providing integrated ground transport services including airport transfers, executive vehicles, and chauffeur services. This collaboration extends across the UK and its global network in over 90 countries, reinforcing the company's focus on delivering end-to-end solutions for business clients.
