Our take
ArangoDB is an open-source database system that creates products dedicated to simplifying the work practices of developers, architects, and data scientists. It allows businesses to store graph data natively across on-premises and cloud databases.
ArangoDB Oasis, arguably the company's most popular product, combines a search engine, document storage, and graph databases in one convenient and easy-to-use platform. The database can be easily scaled and is suited to both big data and real-time applications. The company claims several notable enterprise users, including Cisco, Juniper Networks, Infosys, and Barclays.
One limitation that ArandoDB faces, however, is the increasing number of NoSQL vendors who provide a similar service to its products such as Elasticsearch, Apache Cassandra and MongoDB. In order to beat this competition ArangoDB has focused on graph databases as its niche and regularly updates its products with new features that are reactive to industry developments. It plans to focus on entering new markets in the coming years.
