The Singapore-based start-up updates its index with the freshest backlinks on the internet every 15 minutes, and its crawler process up to 8 billion pages a day, making it the fifth most active crawler on the web.
In 2022, the company invested $60 million of resources into designing and building its own search engine called Yep. In doing so, Ahrefs will be able to run its own search index, rather than relying on APIs on Google or Bing. The start-up’s CEO has long been a critic of Google and the way it handles its data and in 2023, it's released its own book on the building blocks of SEO.
