Our take

Online privacy is the digital issue of the century. New GDPR laws have led to data use regulations that are difficult for marketers to navigate. Companies are spending increasing amounts of time and resources to ensure compliance with the latest laws, only to miss information and be subject to fines.

Ethyca has built a software platform that helps companies of all sizes automate their data privacy needs. Competitor solutions typically need direct involvement from consultants and don't solve privacy issues from an infrastructure point of view. However, Ethyca's platform is based on API tools that make GDPR navigation a lot clearer, allowing organizations to identify how they can use, report, and analyze sensitive data.

The company has secured funding from big names such as PayPal's Max Levchin. Ethyca aims to use this funding to expand its available services, including the creation of software development tools that will help support security and audit processes.
