Our take
Talkspace are a relatively seasoned player in the online therapy market, having been founded in 2012. The platform's unlimited, appointment-free digital therapy with any one of the company’s network of healthcare professionals offers a cost-effective solution to underserved customers in need of mental health services.
Venture capital interest in the digital behavioural health field has been on the rise for a while now, and has fuelled increasing startup competition in the industry. Talkspace has notable rivals in both BetterHelp and Calmerry, but its 2021 public exit and acquisition of relationship counselling startup Lasting have both helped to cement its role as a major tele-health player.
Talkspace continues to expand its product offerings, such as with the launch of Talkspace Engage - a portal for HR teams to promote mental wellbeing in the workplace and drive utilization of the company’s available mental health services. The company was also honored as the “Best Large Service” of Verywell Mind’s second annual 2022 Online Therapy Awards, and has built a clear path for itself to continue delivering front-of-the market services into the future.
